Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Peel (TCA/Jessner).

Most clients feel a warming or stinging sensation during application; discomfort is usually brief. For deeper TCA peels we commonly apply topical anesthetic and use cooling techniques. Your provider customizes pain management to maximize safety and comfort.

Recovery varies by peel depth: light Jessner peels may cause minimal flaking within three to seven days, while medium-depth TCA can involve five to fourteen days of peeling and redness. We provide aftercare instructions and follow-up to support healing and results.

You may notice immediate brightness within days; visible improvement in texture and pigmentation appears over two to six weeks as skin regenerates. Optimal results often require a series, with continued enhancement over several months.

Treatment frequency depends on skin concerns and peel strength. Many clients benefit from one to three light-to-medium peels spaced four to six weeks apart; deeper protocols may need additional sessions. Your provider will recommend a customized plan and maintenance schedule for lasting results.

Peels aren’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active cold sores, open wounds, or recent isotretinoin use. Caution is needed for very dark or highly photosensitive skin due to pigmentation risks. A consultation determines safety and alternative options.

Prepare by avoiding sun exposure and tanning for two weeks and discontinue retinoids, exfoliants, or harsh treatments as advised. Start gentle cleansing and sunscreen. Arrange time off if needed and disclose medications and skin history at your consultation.
